Group Captain Harjit S Sidana VSM, took over the command of Sainik School Amravathinagar as Principal on 01 June 2018. His posting to Sainik School Amravathinagar came after the completion of the prestigious Higher Air Command Course at the College of Airwarfare, Secunderabad.
Group Captain Harjit S Sidana belongs to Patiala in Punjab and completed his schooling from a very renowned residential public school, Yadavindra Public School in Patiala. Thereafter he completed Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering, followed by Master of Technology in Geo-Technical ie Soil Engineering from Thapar University, Patiala.
Having completed his initial stint of education, he joined the IAF in 1991 and was commissioned in the Education Branch of the Indian Air Force in June 1992. In 1995, he joined a very challenging field, the field of Intelligence Wing of the Indian Air Force. He served as an intelligence officer for over two decades, with three tenures in field, two tenures as Commanding Officer and one tenure as Director at the Air Headquarters to his credit. During his intelligence tenures, he was also selected to undergo a special training at Defence Intelligence Agency, Washington DC at United States of America. During his twenty six years of service, he furthered on his educational qualifications and completed Masters of Business Administration in HR from Amity University, besides having completed M Phil in Defence and Strategic studies from Osmania University, Hyderabad.
During his service career, the officer has been commended by The Chief of Air Staff, The Vice Chief of Air Staff and Vice Chief of the Army Staff For his distinguished service and utmost dedication to duty, he was conferred with Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India on 26 January 2018.
Group Captain Harjit Sidana is a sports enthusiast and loves to participate in various games. He himself loves cycling as a hobby. He is married to Mrs Meenu Sidana, who is a qualified teacher with Bachelor of Science, B Ed and M Sc (Chem Hons) as qualifications and has over two decades of teaching experience.
